Almost a Miracle?

Presented by Dr Jeff Tallon

Professor Emeritus of Physics

Francis Crick famously stated: “the origin of life appears to be almost a miracle”. Here I explore the physical and biological worlds to argue that everything is a stunning, hugely improbable miracle of existence – even the slightest speck of dust. We should not be here. Nothing should be here. It is just all too improbable. Yet here we are. The Bible confronts this miracle of existence with the words: “I have done this so that all who see this miracle will understand what it means – that it is I the Lord who has done this, the Holy One who created.” And if the world about us is created purposefully then we also have a purpose in it. Nothing could be more important than finding this purpose.
