There is a reason the ancient historical accounts of the life of Jesus of Nazareth do not start with the phrase, “Once upon a time….” The writers intended to report history, not fairytales or mythology. However, the internet is littered with allegations the Gospels are nothing more than religious plagiarism, a rehashing of dying-and-rising-god fictions of ancient mythology. Can the history in these ancient biographies be trusted?
